“I got carried away”

Shopping bags usually bear the shop’s name, or a slogan or a logo. Some include a statement in the first person, as if from the human carrier: “I’ve just been shopping at [shop name]”. Some include a statement in the first person, as if the bag was speaking: “I’m made from 100% eco-friendly materials”.

My wife has a bag which says “I got carried away at [shop name]”. Is that the bag (literally) or the human (figuratively)?

  1. Sounds a bit as if the bag is saying it was taken, possibly against its will, by the person carrying it.
At least, that’s what’s going on in my somewhat weird and convoluted (il)logical imagination.
